I work at the boundary between semiconductor process and software: process design kit development on one side, and machine learning for defect classification and yield attribution on the other. Most of what I build is meant to take a slow, manual judgement and make it fast, repeatable, and available to every engineer on the floor.

Experience

Yield Development Engineer

2024 — Present

Intel Corporation · Rio Rancho, NM

  • Contribute to process design kit (PDK) development — building and validating device layouts, symbols, and verification decks across Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre, and KLayout.
  • Developed supervised classification models for automatic defect classification, improving separation of defects of interest from nuisance and sharpening yield attribution.
  • Applied unsupervised clustering to unlabelled defect scans to surface recurring signatures and reduce the manual labelling burden on engineers.
  • Trained instance segmentation models to delineate individual defects within dense scan images, enabling per-defect measurement in place of image-level classification.
  • Built a GUI application for excluding regions of a wafer map from fine binning, removing a repetitive manual step from the engineering workflow.
  • Created an Auto Fine Bin Classification application that lets engineers train and deploy custom models on defect scans without maintaining ML tooling of their own.

Process Engineer Graduate Intern

Oct 2022 — Dec 2023

Intel Corporation · Rio Rancho, NM

  • Built the TD Starts application to streamline the lot request process for the Silicon Photonics group, cutting turnaround time and transcription error.
  • Developed a Lot Tracker web application giving real-time lot visibility with automated notification when lots reached a target operation.
  • Automated recurring flows for budget tracking, pilot lot WIP, and productivity reporting.
  • Classified defects and analysed the results to revise control charts and reset control limits.

  • Developed and troubleshot aerospace and renewable energy demonstration projects for outreach programmes.
  • Tutored engineering students in physics, mathematics, probability, statistics, and programming.
  • Planned and ran outreach events introducing prospective students to engineering.

Teaching Assistant

Sep 2021 — Dec 2021

University of New Mexico · Albuquerque, NM

  • Taught the foundations of Java to first-year engineering students.
  • Wrote instructional material for lab sections and assessed student work.

Engineering Intern

Jun 2019 — Dec 2019

IMSEL SAS · Bogotá, Colombia

  • Built and expanded the customer base, generating over $30,000 in industrial goods sales.
  • Designed and integrated the company website single-handedly, increasing customer engagement.
